Translators and Interpreters
In Australia, where either party or a key witness have English as a second language or where they do not understand or speak fluent English, it may be necessary for them to seek the services of a translator or interpreter for their wedding ceremony.
A translator deals with the written word and they can translate written messages from one language to another.
-
If you require a document such as a Birth Certificate, Divorce Paper or a Statutory Declaration to be translated into another language, you will require the services of a translator. It is necessary that the translator is NAATI accredited.
-
For translation or interpreting services contact (NAATI) National Accreditation Authority of Translators & Interpreters – www.naati.com.au.
An interpreter interprets what someone is saying from one langue to another. It is not necessary for the interpreter to be accredited and any person other than the bride or groom can be the interpreter.
